Absolutely. You don’t need any experience. Many of us started from scratch! We learn from each other and welcome anyone who wants to give it a try.

We have projects throughout Crumlin, including:
– A communal allotment at Pearse College Allotments
– A polytunnel and room in Clonmacnoise Grove
– Planting and gardens throughout the community
– Engagement with schools and local residents all over the area

Some areas are communal, while others are individually maintained. Space is limited, but we’re always open to people joining the volunteer crew and getting involved. From there, we can see what’s possible!

How is Bloomin’ Crumlin funded?

We rely on grants from local bodies and other environmental grants, as well as support from organisations land donations from the public. Everything we do is volunteer-led and community-driven

Do you work with schools?

Yes! Some of our volunteers are school teachers and often run workshops, biodiversity activities, and planting activities in partnership with local schools. Due to child safeguarding protection, we don’t deal directly with children in an unsupervised manner. If you’re a teacher or parent interested in working with us, please reach out.

Why are you doing the Council’s job?

We’re not here to replace the Council’s responsibilities. In fact, we often work alongside Dublin City Council and have received great support from local staff. But we also know that councils don’t always have the resources to tackle every small issue in every neighbourhood. That’s where local community groups like ours come in.
Bloomin Crumlin exists because people care deeply about where they live and want to take action. Whether it’s planting pollinator-friendly flowers, mapping trees, or restoring neglected spaces, our work is about building pride, resilience, and connection in our community — not taking anyone’s job.
Our actions often complement Council work, and at times help highlight gaps or advocate for change. We believe that when residents get involved, great things can happen — and that doesn’t need to be at odds with what the Council does. In fact, working together makes everyone stronger.

There’s a problem on my street or in the local park — what should I do?

The best first step is to report it directly to Dublin City Council through the Dublin City Council Citizen Hub. This platform lets you log issues like illegal dumping, broken lights, damaged footpaths, or problems in parks — and it helps ensure your report is officially tracked. You need to set up a free account when you first use it.

If it’s something urgent, unsafe, or unclear, feel free to get in touch with us too. While we’re a volunteer group and not a council service, we often help amplify residents’ voices or connect people to the right contacts in a quick way. Together, we can get more eyes on the problem — and often more action too.

Why haven’t you answered our email/message?

We’re a volunteer-run group — we don’t have an office or paid staff, and most of us are balancing this work with jobs, families, and everything else life throws at us!
We do our best to reply to everyone, but sometimes it can take a little while. If it’s urgent or if we’ve missed your message, please do follow up — we won’t mind. Your message matters to us, and we appreciate your patience.

I am a media organisation, can I contact you?

Yes, absolutely. Bloomin Crumlin is happy to speak with media organisations about our projects, campaigns, or community initiatives. If you’re interested in featuring our work, arranging an interview, or covering a story, please get in touch.
You can contact us at [insert email address or media contact link], and we’ll respond as soon as possible.

I have an idea for a project – can I talk to you about it?

Definitely! We love hearing new ideas. Whether it’s a mural, a planting project, a green event or something else, we’re always open to collaborating and supporting neighbours to make things happen. Whether we can take it on depends on a few factors like resources, timing, funding, and how well it aligns with our goals. We consider suggestions on a case-by-case basis,Feel free to get in touch and share your idea — we’d be happy to chat.

Do you do events or workshops?

Yes — we run regular planting days, gardening workshops, educational walks, and talks throughout the year. Keep an eye on our website and social media for updates.
